In the fading light, I reach up and hold an apple in my hand. It rests there against the stars just visible through the branches. I smell its sharp-sweet flesh, sense its mystery. I’m holding life and legends in one hand.

We cannot own the sunlit sky, the moon the wildflowers growing, for we are part of all that is, within life’s river flowing, with open hands receive and share, the gifts of God’s creation, that all may have abundant life, in every earthly nation.
It is a relief to know that we are not born, nor shall die. Yet at the same time, we may appreciate how fleeting and temporary this life and world is. We may see life as a profound and mystical opportunity to contemplate and experience the majesty of God.
Lovers share a sacred decree – to seek the Beloved. They roll head over heels, rushing toward the Beautiful One like a torrent of water. In truth, everyone is a shadow of the Beloved – Our seeking is His seeking, Our words are His words. – RUMI
We are blessed with many in our community of faith with a variety of skills to offer. So don’t be shy about encouraging the nurturing of seeds with your abilities.
Grateful that we are loved unconditionally but wanting to do our best for the One who knows what we are competent to do and knows our boundaries. Loving our neighbour as ourselves.
Love creates a communion with life. Love expands us, connects us, sweetens us, ennobles us. Love springs up in tender concern, it blossoms into caring action. It makes beauty out of all we touch.
May we be like little children who have not yet learned about status and the symbols that define class. May we work toward ending the materialistic comparative society that we have created and utilized to define ourselves.
Love is the deepest language and presence of soul. In and through the warmth and creativity of Love, the soul shelters us from the bleakness of that nothingness.
I’ve come to understand Love as a mixture of a spiritual presence within myself, the glow of my soul, the aura of energy I have inside and surrounding me, and the radiant energy linking every part of the cosmos.
If we live our lives through others, then we are failing to hear or ignoring the still small voice from within and we could be robbing someone of their life’s calling. Age should never deter us from pursuing our goals and feeding our soul.

This being “Canada Day”, I feel that it is appropriate to share two messages from the United Church of Canada Moderator Richard Bott. Both messages are thought provoking and helps us discern how our behaviors may be affecting peoples of the First Nations.
What have been the blessings you have received in the past fifteen months? For me, it was a blessing to have had an opportunity for soul-searching and changing some of my mindsets.
The Powell River United Church (PRUC) will hold a worship gathering in Larry Gouthro Park on Manson Avenue at 11am on Sunday June 27th for up to fifty pre-registered attendees, weather permitting.
As we soon prepare to gather in wanted, and much needed communion, let us not forget the recent journey that has united us in an experience that we have travelled together.
