In Your Image

Message from Light of God Ministry • Reverend Mary White

The death of Queen Elizabeth II brings to the fore appreciation for a woman who dedicated her life to her country. She followed the expected protocol led by officials who crossed all the “T’s” and dotted all the “I’s”.  Her life belonged to others who longed to be near her. Queen Elizabeth was loved by multitudes and is grieved by many around the world.

Still, others are reminded of the ancient colonizers who destroyed villages, the spirit of families, devastated the lands and sacred ways of life. She represented a destructive institution that continues to benefit from the loss of many.

Queen Elizabeth II fulfilled her duties to country and the world.

Long live the King.

With Love,
Rev. Mary

All Are Welcome With Love In-person Worship Sundays at 11am

Dear Friends:

This week thousands of people across Canada will participate in runs, walks, and bike rides in honour of the memory of Terry Fox, and to further his cause of raising funds for cancer research.

Terry Fox reminds us that our young people and children can do amazing things. Let's remember to always listen to their dreams and ideas and support them when they want to do something to help others. This is a great way to share God's love in the world.

The Family Fun video has some information about Terry Fox along with these songs: To Be Alive, Most of All, Yellow Bird, Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow, and Magic Penny.

The Parent Tot video includes the reading of a book called, "Talk to the Wind" as well as these songs: The More We Sing Together, From My Head Down to My Toes God Made Me, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, "5-2-1-0", and Jesus Loves Me.

Best wishes to you and yours for a great week.

Reading ~ John 10:14-18

“I am the shepherd who cares for the sheep. I know my sheep just as the Creator knows me. And my sheep know me just as I know the Creator. I give my life for these sheep. I have other sheep too. They are not in this flock here. I must lead them also. They will listen to my voice. In the future there will be one flock and one shepherd. The Creator loves me because I give my life. I give my life so that I can get it back again. No one takes my life away from me. I give my own life freely. I have the right to give my life, and I have the right to get it back again. This is what the Creator told me.”

POEM • Grace Will Walk Us Home • Excerpt by Thom M. Shuman

  Day 231 (1 Corinthians 13:4–8a)

Love listens to grandpa’s story for the umpteenth time (without rolling its eyes); kisses every dirty boo-boo; does not laugh behind another’s back; stands between the vulnerable and the bullies; love carries the broken hearts of others, sees good in each person, cares when everyone else doesn’t, knows evil eclipses good but for a moment; love always is love.

A Prayer for Understanding

Excerpt from “Moments of Our Nights and Days”
by Ruth Burgess

God of all humanity, you created each and every one of us in your own image.

Enable us to accept those whose views and ways of living and of loving may differ from our own.

Make us willing to celebrate our differences as part of your unending gift of variety.

Help us to learn from each other’s experience of your grace, and above all, let our bond to one another be through our faith in Christ which goes beyond human distinctions.

May we all, as your people, witness to your love in our lives.
