Message from Light of God Ministry • Reverend Mary White
Something to Contemplate…
When thinking about being born from stardust, the mystery of life on earth is too great for me to comprehend. From the beginning of Mother Earth’s memory, she has evolved and adapted as required and resurrection is not new to her. But we are learning that she will only take so much abuse before she is forced to resist. I wonder if the wide spread of natural disasters such as heat domes, tornadoes, flooding, wildfires, glacier meltdowns, etc. are the result of Mother Earth’s attempt to maintain equilibrium. We humans cannot continue to ravage the earth without consequences. We are unable to control nature. It therefore is best to do what we can to contribute to earth’s healing. If communities work toward this common cause, then maybe together, we can make a difference. As Aristotle stated, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”
With Love,
Rev. Mary

Reading by David Sharp
From his book “Darwin, Divinity and the Dance of the Cosmos.” Bruce Sanguin states, “The mystery inherent in the sunset is not a problem to be solved. It’s about the feelings evoked by the beauty of the colours; it’s the awareness that what we are witnessing is the slow turning of the earth away from the sun, and that our bodies and minds are preparing to enter another dimension of consciousness, deep sleep; it’s the awareness that we are travelling through deep space in a sacred dance with the orb of light and heat which is responsible for our capacity to even consciously enjoy the sunset... Mystery then is the depth dimension of life, which lies beyond rational explanation”.
Poem
Let me sing of my birth
my beginnings as an Earth being.
I have sensed deep within me a mystery, how the fingers of God moulded all my inner parts knitting together the web of my inner being deep in my mother’s womb.
God kept every feature of my frame in sight deep in secret below.
God wove together my body in the depths of Earth, Mother Earth.
What a wonder to be Earth born!
(Psalm 139:13-15)
I’m blessed to be on vacation in Maui with my family this week, and to be celebrating my 50th birthday tomorrow with them.
On Monday, we drove up 10,000 feet to the top of the Volcano Haleakala to watch the sunset. I thought I’d share a few photos. It has been the highlight of our trip so far, and also reflects the theme for Reverend Mary’s message for us this week.
Aloha in Hawaii is commonly used when greeting or parting from someone, as an expression of love and fellowship.
So, I shall end with an ‘Aloha’ to you, from our family to yours.
